The proposed designs for the Vreed-en-hoop
Stelling are developed as a link between the
two river sides in order to establish a tectonic
and iconic connection between the two cities.
Trough the design the two proposed buildings
dialogue in a consolidated language defined
by their architectural elements.
The architecture design aims to create a
connection between Vreed en Hoop and
Stabroeck, that goes beyond the ferry boats
connection, an ideological link between the
two banks of the river.
The link is reflected in the architecture as
a continuation of the Stabroeck Wharf and
Stelling design, where the trusses symbolize
a bridge that links the buildings, where the
starting point continue to be the historical
market.
